God said, “Let there be light…” He spoke creation into existence. Within each of us is the power to create, bring life, and give hope. This ability manifests in writing. The intangible world is made tangible through the writer’s vulnerability and spirit.

Ever since I was a teenager, I’ve reached for a pen and journal as a way to collect my thoughts and pour out my heart. An unexplained calmness overcame me as I released my tumultuous emotions on paper. It was as though healing flowed through the ink and into the core of my being when I wrote.

Today I feel free and alive when I write about Jesus: the love of my life. God earnestly desires to share the secrets of his heart with you. He wants to lavish his extravagant love upon you as you learn to sit upon his lap and talk with him. I know because I have experienced him in this way. He has changed me from the inside-out and he will do it for you too.

Writing gives me a voice to boldly reach out to others and authentically speak into their lives. It provides a way for me to participate in something much bigger than myself by speaking the truth of Christ to a broken world.

Mankind has been teaching, expressing, entertaining, and preserving history through the spoken and written word throughout time. Story-telling has been used in Jewish tradition to teach and increase faith for centuries. The Haggadah is a narrative read during the Passover meal commemorating the story of the Exodus. Jesus often used stories called parables to teach deeper philosophical truths to his disciples. Most of our favorite Disney movies reveal the supremacy of goodness and leave us feeling hopeful.

One of my favorites is “Aladdin”. Princess Jasmine, who has led a sheltered life, is visited on the balcony by Aladdin who is posing as royalty to win her affection. As he reaches out for her hand so she can climb aboard the magic carpet, he asks her, “Do you trust me?”

Honestly, I have many days when I wonder if I have what it takes. Doubt and discouragement constantly whisper in my ear, but God’s voice is always louder. He asks, “Do you trust me?” Obediently, I answer yes. He applauds and cheers, “You can do it! Persevere. Let me show you a whole new world.” I believe God has something  to say through me that will change lives.

Six months ago, my mentor encouraged me to create my blog. Each week, as I get ready to post, I feel a sense of accomplishment and purpose come over me. Do I expect to be an overnight success? No. But I do expect to impact someone’s life. Somewhere. That makes every struggling and unrelenting moment worth it.

Writing has positively influenced my life, because it helps me to live what I believe. Faith looks forward and brings what we hope for into our present circumstances. In other words, faith is bigger than fear and produces what we hope for (Heb. 11:1).  I hope to make a difference in other people’s lives by bringing revelation to their hearts. Like a baby crowning, a whole new world awaits me.
